Here are some ideas for using red quinoa and recipes to try:
  1. Salads: Red quinoa works well in salads, adding colour, texture, and protein. Combine cooked red quinoa with fresh vegetables, herbs, and a dressing of your choice. You can also add roasted vegetables or grilled chicken for a heartier salad.
  2. Pilafs: Use red quinoa as a base for pilafs. Sauté onions, garlic, and your choice of vegetables in a pan. Add cooked red quinoa, vegetable or chicken broth, and spices. Simmer until the liquid is absorbed and the quinoa is fluffy. You can add nuts, dried fruits, or fresh herbs for extra flavour.
  3. Stuffed Vegetables: Stuff  peppers, courgettes, or tomatoes with a mixture of cooked red quinoa, vegetables, and cheese. Bake them until the vegetables are tender and the filling is heated through.
  4. Quinoa Burgers: Make vegetarian or vegan burgers using red quinoa as a binder. Combine cooked red quinoa with mashed beans or lentils, breadcrumbs, spices, and herbs. Form into patties and pan-fry or bake until golden brown.
  5. Quinoa Bowls: Create nourishing grain bowls by combining cooked red quinoa with a variety of toppings. Add roasted vegetables, grilled tofu or chicken, avocado, and a flavourful sauce or dressing.
  6. Breakfast Porridge: Cook red quinoa with milk (or plant-based milk) and sweeten it with honey or maple syrup. Top with fresh fruits, nuts, and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a wholesome breakfast.

Remember to rinse red quinoa thoroughly before cooking to remove any bitterness. The general cooking ratio for red quinoa is 250g of quinoa to 500ml of water or broth. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed and the grains are tender.
