Made with dried smoked chipotle flakes, this sauce brings an authentic, deep smokiness with just the right amount of heat.

Smoked chipotle dipping sauce

Perfect for drizzling over tacos, serving with chips, or as a zesty dip for your favourite snacks, this recipe is very easy to follow and can be prepared in just a few minutes.

This recipe makes approximately 8 servings.

Ingredients

  • 200g mayonnaise
  • 100g Greek yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp dried smoked chipotle
  • 1 tbsp lime juice (juice of about half a lime)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp honey
  • Salt to taste

Prepare the Chipotle Flakes:

If your chipotle flakes are particularly large, grind them in a spice grinder or with a mortar and pestle until they reach a finer consistency.

Combine Ingredients:

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise and Greek yoghurt. Stir until smooth and well blended.

Add Flavourings:

Add the dried smoked chipotle flakes, lime juice, garlic powder, onion powder, and honey to the mixture. Stir until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.

Season:

Taste the sauce and add salt as necessary, adjusting the seasoning to your preference.

Chill:

For best results, cover the sauce and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavours to meld together.

Serve:

Serve the chipotle dipping sauce as a dip with chips, as a drizzle over your favourite dishes, or as a spread in sandwiches or wraps.
