Stuffed cheesy jalapeƱo mummies

Get ready to spook up your Halloween party with these adorable and delicious stuffed jalapeƱo mummies!

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes
  • Total Time: Approximately 40 minutes
  • 6 large jalapeƱo peppers
  • 100g cream cheese
  • 50g grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (or try our hot smoked paprika for an extra kick)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (approximately 320g)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Edible googly eyes (optional, for decoration)
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C for a fan oven) or 400°F.
  2. Begin by preparing the jalapeƱos. Cut off the tops (save to the side to put back on later) and remove the seeds and membranes to reduce the heat. You can use a small spoon or knife to do this.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, grated cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  4. Stuff each jalapeƱo pepper with the cheese mixture, making sure not to overfill them, pop the top back on.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into thin strips. Wrap the strips of pastry around each stuffed jalapeƱo, leaving a small gap at the top to create the “mummy’s face.”
  6. Whisk the egg in a separate bowl and brush it over the pastry-wrapped jalapeƱos. This will give them a golden-brown finish when baked.
  7. Place the stuffed jalapeƱo mummies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden.
  8. Once the mummies are out of the oven, you can add edible googly eyes to create a spooky effect. Use a small amount of cream cheese as “glue” to attach the eyes.
  9. Allow the mummies to cool slightly before serving. Beware of the hot cheese filling!
  10. Serve with tomato or sriracha sauce (try our sriracha seasoning to create the sauce – sriracha sauce recipe)
