Black seed honey halloumi

A unique dish that brings together the sweetness of honey, the earthiness of black seeds, and the distinctive taste of halloumi.
  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes
  • Marination Time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 5-6 minutes

(Serves 4)

  • Halloumi cheese: 250g
  • Black seed honey: 4 tablespoons
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon: 1 tablespoon juice + zest
  • Nigella seeds: 1 teaspoon
  • Aleppo chilli flakes: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: a pinch
  • Black pepper: a pinch

Prepare the Halloumi:

  • Slice the halloumi into 1 cm thick slices.

Marinate:

  • Blitz the coriander seeds
  • In a small bowl, mix the black seed honey, olive oil, lemon juice, nigella seeds, aleppo chilli flakes, coriander seeds, salt, and pepper.
  • Coat the halloumi slices with this mixture and let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.

Cook:

  • Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
  • Place the halloumi slices in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and caramelised.

Serve:

  • Transfer the halloumi slices to a serving plate.
  • Drizzle any remaining honey mixture from the marinating bowl over the cooked halloumi.
  • Add a little lemon zest and a squeeze of lemon
