Citric Acid 100g

Citric Acid 100g

Used to preserve and marinate meats, with a sour, tangy taste that is similar to the natural acidity found in citrus fruits

WHAT CAN I CREATE WITH...

Use citric acid for:
  1. Flavour Enhancer: Citric acid is often used as a flavour enhancer in both savuory and sweet dishes. It adds a tartness that can brighten up the flavours of a dish.
  2. Preservative: Due to its acidic nature, citric acid is commonly used as a natural preservative in food and beverages. It helps inhibit the growth of bacteria and prolongs the shelf life of products.
  3. Canning and Pickling: Citric acid is frequently used in canning and pickling processes. It helps to maintain the acidity levels, preserve the colour of fruits and vegetables, and prevent the growth of spoilage-causing bacteria.
  4. Baking: Citric acid can be used in baking as a substitute for lemon juice or vinegar. It can add acidity to recipes and help activate leavening agents like baking soda.
  5. Beverages: Citric acid is commonly found in various beverages, such as lemonade, soft drinks, and cocktails. It provides a tart and refreshing taste.
Try citric acid in:
  1. Lemonade: Make a classic homemade lemonade by combining fresh lemon juice, water, sugar, and a pinch of citric acid to enhance the tartness.
  2. Salsa: Add a pinch of citric acid to your homemade salsa to brighten up the flavours of tomatoes, onions, and peppers.
  3. Canned Fruits: When canning fruits, create a syrup by dissolving citric acid and sugar in water. This syrup can help preserve the colour and texture of the fruits.
  4. Citrus Salad Dressing: Create a tangy citrus dressing by whisking together olive oil, lemon juice, honey, Dijon mustard, and a small amount of citric acid.
  5. Carbonated Drinks: If you’re making homemade carbonated beverages, use citric acid to add a sour kick to your drink.
