Basil Seed 100g

Basil Seed 100g

Basil seeds, also known as Sabja seeds or Tukmaria seeds, are small black seeds derived from the basil plant (Ocimum basilicum). They have gained popularity in recent years due to their health benefits and versatility in culinary applications. With a mild, nutty flavour similar to poppy seeds. When soaked in liquid, they develop a gelatinous outer layer while retaining a slight crunch in the centre. Popular in India and Southeast Asian cuisine, a good source of minerals and fibre. Soak the seeds to eat

I got these basil seeds to try in iced drinks and they’ve been great. Just soak them in water for a few minutes and they puff up nicely – a bit like chia but without the slimy texture. I’ve added them to lemonade and smoothies for a bit of extra fibre. They’re clean, no weird taste and a change from the usual ingredients.
