Ground Cumin 75g

A popular spice that adds a distinctive flavour to many dishes. Ground cumin has a warm, earthy, and slightly nutty flavor with a hint of bitterness. It has a strong aroma and can add depth and richness to dishes, commonly used in Indian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, and North African cuisines.  A quintessential spice in many blends, it is also used as part of a rub, as a marinade and also as a seasoning.

Uses for cumin:
  1. Spice Blends: Ground cumin is a key ingredient in various spice blends like curry powder, garam masala, and chilli powder.
  2. Curry and Stews: It is commonly used in curries, stews, and soups to add flavour and complexity.
  3. Meat Seasoning: Ground cumin works well as a meat seasoning, especially for grilled or roasted meats like chicken, beef, or lamb.
  4. Rice and Grain Dishes: It can be added to rice, pilaf, and other grain dishes to enhance the flavour.
  5. Roasted Vegetables: Sprinkle ground cumin over roasted vegetables like carrots, potatoes, or cauliflower to give them a delicious twist.
  6. Dips and Sauces: Cumin is a great addition to homemade dips, such as hummus, or sauces like tzatziki or barbecue sauce.
  7. Marinades: It can be used in marinades for chicken, fish, or tofu to infuse them with a delightful taste.
Bring out the taste of cumin:
  1. Easy Chickpea Curry: Sauté onions, garlic, and ginger in oil. Add ground cumin, coriander, turmeric, and red chilli powder. Stir in canned chickpeas, diced tomatoes, and coconut milk. Simmer until the flavours meld together. Serve with rice or naan bread.
  2. Mexican Spiced Quinoa: Cook quinoa according to package instructions. In a separate pan, sauté onions, bell peppers, and corn. Add ground cumin, chilli powder, and a squeeze of lime juice. Mix in the cooked quinoa and garnish with fresh coriander.
  3. Moroccan Spiced Roasted Carrots: Toss peeled and sliced carrots with olive oil, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and pepper. Roast in the oven until tender and slightly caramelised. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and serve as a side dish.
  4. Cumin-Spiced Grilled Chicken: Mix ground cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the spice mixture onto chicken breasts or thighs. Grill until cooked through and enjoy with a side salad or grilled vegetables.
