Fenugreek seeds are a common spice in Indian, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean cuisines and they are often used in curry powders, spice blends, and pickles. Fenugreek seeds can be used whole, crushed, or ground into a powder. Add a unique flavour to dishes, with notes of maple and nuttiness. Fenugreek seeds are commonly used in lentil soups, vegetable curries, and bread. A staple in Indian cooking, with a sweet, nutty flavour, these seeds are loaded with health-benefiting properties.

Try fenugreek seeds in the following :
  1. Methi Paratha (Fenugreek Flatbread): Ingredients:
    • 125g whole wheat flour
    • 60g fenugreek leaves (finely chopped)
    • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
    • Salt to taste
    • Water (as needed)
    • In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients and knead into a soft dough.
    • Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into flatbreads.
    • Heat a pan and cook the flatbreads on both sides until golden brown.
    • Serve hot with yogurt, pickle, or any curry of your choice.
  2. Fenugreek Seed Tea: Ingredients:
    • 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
    • 250ml water
    • Honey or lemon (optional, for taste)
    • Boil water in a saucepan and add fenugreek seeds to it.
    • Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
    • Strain the tea into a cup and add honey or lemon if desired.
    • Enjoy it warm as a herbal tea, which may aid digestion and provide other potential health benefits.
These are just a couple of examples, but fenugreek seeds can be incorporated into various other recipes like curries, stews, and vegetable dishes to add flavour and depth.
