Cinnamon Sticks x 5

Cinnamon Sticks x 5

A versatile spice that can be used in a variety of ways to enhance the flavour of both sweet and savoury dishes. When using cinnamon sticks in recipes, they are often used as a whole spice and removed before serving, however, you can also grind into a powder using a spice grinder if you prefer a more intense cinnamon flavour.

WHAT CAN I CREATE WITH...

Cinnamon sticks are  incredibly versatile and can be used in various ways. Here are some common uses:
  1. Infusing Beverages: Add cinnamon sticks to hot beverages like tea, coffee, or mulled wine for a warm and aromatic flavour. You can also use them to infuse flavour into cold beverages like fruit punches or infused water.
  2. Spiced Desserts: Cinnamon is often used in baking and can be added to cakes, cookies, pies, and pastries. You can include a cinnamon stick in recipes like apple pie, rice pudding, or bread pudding to infuse a subtle, warming flavor.
  3. Curries and Stews: Cinnamon sticks are a common ingredient in many Indian, Middle Eastern, and North African savory dishes. They add a warm and slightly sweet flavor to curries, stews, and tagines. Just remember to remove the cinnamon stick before serving.
  4. Rice and Grain Dishes: Adding a cinnamon stick to rice or grain dishes, such as pilaf or biryani, can infuse a delicate flavor into the dish as it cooks. It pairs well with ingredients like raisins, nuts, and aromatic spices.
  5. Marinades and Rubs: Crushed or ground cinnamon combined with other spices can create flavorful marinades or dry rubs for meats like pork, lamb, or chicken. This works particularly well for dishes with a hint of sweetness, like barbecue or Moroccan-style cuisine.
  6. Spiced Syrups and Sauces: Simmering cinnamon sticks in syrups or sauces can impart their warm flavor into the liquid. You can use these spiced syrups in beverages, drizzle them over desserts, or use them to glaze meats.
  7. Mulled Spices: Cinnamon sticks are a key component in traditional mulled spice mixes. Simmer them with cloves, star anise, and other spices to make a flavorful blend for mulled wine, cider, or spiced apple juice.
  8. Herbal Teas and Infusions: Combine cinnamon sticks with other herbs and spices like ginger, cardamom, or cloves to create herbal teas or infusions. These aromatic blends are soothing and can be enjoyed hot or cold.
