Mint chutney

A delicious addition to any Indian meal, offering a burst of fresh flavours that perfectly complement spicy dishes.

Preparation: 15 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

  • 25g dried mint
  • 1 small onion, roughly chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped (adjust according to preference)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as needed
  1. Soak the dried mint leaves in water for about 10 minutes to rehydrate them. Drain excess water and set aside.
  2. In a blender or food processor, combine the soaked mint leaves, chopped onion, green chilies, lemon juice, cumin seeds, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Blend until you achieve a smooth paste, adding a little water if necessary to reach your desired consistency.
  3. Taste the chutney and adjust the seasoning as per your preference. Add more salt, sugar, or lemon juice if needed to balance the flavours.
  4. Transfer the mint chutney to a serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld together. Serve chilled alongside your favourite Indian snacks or main dishes.
