Chicken Masala Skewers

A delicious and flavourful dish that combines tender pieces of chicken marinated in aromatic spices and grilled to perfection.
  • Preparation Time: 20 minutes
  • Marination Time: 1-2 hours
  • Cooking Time: 10-12 minutes
  • Total Time: Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • 500g boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 tsp garlic paste
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (adjust according to your spice preference)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  1. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, ginger paste, garlic paste, garam masala, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them evenly. Make sure all the chicken pieces are well-covered with the marinade. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1-2 hours to allow the flavours to infuse.
  3. If you are using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  6. Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side or until the chicken is cooked through and nicely charred.
  7. Once the chicken is cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and transfer them to a serving plate.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.

Note: If you don’t have access to a grill, you can also cook the skewers in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
