Easy herb & spice chicken tenders

Introducing kids to spices like oregano and paprika can help them develop an appreciation for different flavours, simple tasks like mixing and arranging food on a tray are great for beginners and build confidence in the kitchen. Always supervise children in the kitchen, especially when using the oven or handling raw chicken

  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes
  • 500g chicken breast fillets
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Preparation:

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Marinate the Chicken:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the oregano, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Cut the chicken breasts into strips about 1 inch wide.
  • Place the chicken strips in a large bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle the spice mix over them. Toss until the chicken is well-coated.

Bake the Chicken:

  • Arrange the chicken strips on the prepared baking tray.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.

Serve:

  • Let the chicken tenders cool slightly before serving.
  • Enjoy with a side of vegetables or a dip like ketchup or hummus.
