Pasta Shells Stuffed with Spinach

This comforting and nourishing recipe is perfect for a family dinner or a special gathering with friends. The combination of creamy ricotta cheese, vibrant spinach, and aromatic herbs creates a mouthwatering filling that complements the pasta shells perfectly.

  • 250g pasta shells (large conchiglie)
  • 200g fresh spinach leaves, washed and chopped
  • 250g ricotta cheese
  • 250g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1 jar (approx. 500g) of your favourite pasta sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain the cooked pasta and set it aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach, ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  4. Take each cooked pasta shell and stuff it generously with the spinach and cheese filling. Arrange the filled shells in a baking dish.
  5. Pour the pasta sauce over the stuffed shells, making sure they are evenly coated.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the sauce.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese on top is bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy the delicious Pasta Shells Stuffed With Spinach!
