Easy to make herb & spice chicken wraps

A simple and delicious recipe perfect for children to make and enjoy, introduces children to the taste and uses of a few dried herbs and spices to create a tasty meal that is healthy and fun to prepare!
  • Preparation: 10 minutes
  • Cooking: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (approximately 400g)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 tortillas
  • 1 medium cucumber, sliced
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 100g shredded lettuce
  • 50g grated cheese
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or plain yogurt

Prepare the Chicken:

  • Start by cutting the chicken breasts into thin strips. This can be a fun and supervised task for older children using a safe knife.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the olive oil, dried oregano, dried basil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Add the chicken strips to the bowl and coat them evenly with the spice mixture. This is a great step for kids to get their hands messy and learn about different spices.

Cook the Chicken:

  • Heat a large frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken strips.
  • Cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly golden. An adult should supervise this step.

Prepare the Wraps:

  • Lay out the whole wheat tortillas on a clean surface.
  • Evenly distribute the cooked chicken strips among the tortillas.
  • Add sliced cucumber, grated carrot, shredded lettuce, and grated cheese to each wrap.
  • Drizzle with a little mayonnaise or plain yogurt.

Wrap It Up:

  • Fold in the sides of each tortilla, then roll them up tightly. This is a fun part for children as they can learn how to assemble their own wraps.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • Cut the wraps in half if desired and serve immediately.
