Tandoori chicken bites – airfryer

Inspired by the vibrant flavours of Indian cuisine Tandoori chicken nuggets are a delicious and flavourful twist on the classic chicken nuggets.
  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes (plus marinating time)
  • Cooking Time: 12-15 minutes

This recipe serves 4 as a starter or 2 as a main course.

Ingredients

  • 500g boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons tandoori masala blend
  • 150g plain Greek yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh coriander, chopped for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon wedges, to serve

Marinate the Chicken:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the Greek yoghurt, tandoori masala blend, lemon juice, vegetable oil, ginger paste, garlic paste, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the bowl, ensuring they are evenly coated with the marinade.
  • Cover the bowl with cling film and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally for 2 hours or overnight for deeper flavour.

Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 200ยฐC for about 5 minutes.

Cook the Chicken Bites:

  • Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with oil to prevent sticking.
  • Place the marinated chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  • Air fry the chicken at 200ยฐC for 12-15 minutes, turning halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and has a slight char on the edges.

Serve:

  • Once cooked, remove the chicken bites from the air fryer and transfer to a serving plate.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander if desired and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
