Spicy Avocado Fries and Chipotle Dipping Sauce

Spicy avocado fries are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional potato fries.
  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 35 minutes

For the fries:

  • 2 large ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 240g breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Cooking spray

For the dip:

  • 125g mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons smoked chipotle
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
    1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    2. Cut the avocados in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and carefully peel off the skin. Slice each avocado half into thick, fry-shaped slices.
    3. Set up a breading station: In one bowl, place the flour. In another bowl, add the beaten eggs. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
    4. Dip each avocado slice into the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the avocado slice in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere the breadcrumbs. Repeat this process for all avocado slices.
    5. In a large frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the avocado slices in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer the fried avocado slices to the prepared baking sheet.
    6. Once all the avocado slices are fried, place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes to ensure they are heated through and extra crispy.
    7. While the avocado fries are baking, prepare the chipotle dipping sauce. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, smoked chipotle, lime juice, garlic powder, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
    8. Remove the avocado fries from the oven and serve them immediately with the chipotle dipping sauce.

Enjoy your spicy avocado fries with chipotle dipping sauce! They’re best when served hot and crispy, making them a delightful appetiser or snack option.
